Ayurvedic Exfoliating Gloves. Shipping Included!
These textured raw silk gloves are made for dry exfoliation of the body before a shower or massage. Each pair is made by hand in the USA from 100% natural virgin silk.
Garshana translates from Sanskrit to mean rubbing or polishing. In modern times, we call it exfoliation. Exfoliating the body regularly helps to detoxify the system, move fat, stimulate digestion, and bring energy to your day. It can particularly help with weight loss, cellulite and water retention by improving lymphatic drainage and circulation. Scrubbing your entire body with the gloves is not only invigorating, but also leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft and actually almost clean, before you've even started the shower! Wearing the gloves (as opposed to using a wash cloth) makes this process so much easier, and will allow you to be a whole lot more thorough. The gloves should be machine washed and dried, and will last a long time even with daily use.
Note: Some fraying around the edges of the gloves is normal, and long frays can be snipped away without worry of damaging the gloves. They will get a little more rough over time, which serves to increase their effectiveness.
Garshana can be performed as quickly as 2 minutes, or, for even better results, as long as 10 about minutes.
In April of 2013, Dr Oz featured Garshana Massage on his television show. His guest, Kulreet Chaudhary, MD explains how to give yourself a wonderful garshana treatment before your shower:
"The three main areas for the massage are the arms, abdomen, and legs. For the arms, begin with circles on the shoulder and proceed down the upper arm with back and forth strokes covering all surfaces. Make circles on the elbow and then back and forth strokes on the forearm. Resume making circles on the wrist. On the hand, make back and forth movements emphasizing the spaces between each finger. Repeat the same sequence on the other arm.
For the stomach, you start with a clockwise motion first, which supports the natural direction of digestion. Then massage the abdomen using horizontal strokes with hands moving in opposite directions. Next, use up and down strokes on the sides of the torso.
The last area is the legs. Using circular strokes, massage the buttocks and hips. Move back and forth on the thigh using both hands and covering all surfaces. Use circular strokes on the knee using both hands. Return to the back and forth strokes on the lower leg using both hands. Then use circular strokes on the ankles. The feet require back and forth strokes. Emphasize the sole of the foot and the spaces between each toe. Repeat on the other side."
Garshana is a Sanskrit word meaning “to polish.” To be used without water before a shower to provide a brisk, exfoliating massage. This technique detoxifies the body and stimulates the lymphatic and digestive systems, which helps minimize the appearance of cellulite.

These Garshan gloves are really well made and do not fall apart in the first wash ether. They are prefectly "rough" and lovely to touch, a perfect pick-me-up treatment at home.
